Fundamentals of a Call Center Agent.
A call center agent is the person who handles incoming or outgoing customer calls for a business. A call center agent might handle account inquiries, customer complaints or support issues. Other names for a call center agent include customer service representative (CSR), telephone sales or service representative (TSR), attendant, associate, operator, account executive or team member. Below are skills and qualifications required to become a call center agent.
1.) Computer Skills
- You need to be knowledgeable about computers (windows environment).
- Typing with both hands and most of your fingers are typing while listening and talking.
2.) Education
- Read and write English proficiently.
- At least second year in college without back subjects.
- Able to speak English without a heavy accent.
3.) Flexibility
- The ability to work difficult hours (at the start).
- The ability to work a very controlled work schedule.
- Start at a certain time break a certain time for x minutes, end work at a certain time.
- Be available for extra hours or shifts with little notice.
- Ability to work at your desk sitting down for extended periods of time (up to 4 hours).
- Ability to deal with challenging customers and not take it personally (every hour of your shift.)

5.) Preperation for the Interview
- Look neat and professional.
- Don’t bring family or friends to the interview.

- Say “please”, “excuse me”, “thank you”, “I appreciate your time”.
